Random Wilds Slots
Random Wilds are wild symbols added to the reels or grid by a feature, often on non-winning spins, to create or improve a win.
How Random Wilds Work
Random Wilds are Wild Symbols placed on the reels or grid by a feature instead of landing through the normal spin. The feature can fire at random on any spin, on non-winning spins only, or as part of a bonus round, and it typically adds a set number or a range of wilds to random positions before the result is evaluated.
Since the wilds arrive after the symbols have landed, the feature often turns a losing spin into a win or pushes an existing win into a higher tier. Games that save it for non-winning spins use it as a consolation mechanism with a fixed chance of triggering.
Variations
Implementations differ in how many wilds appear, where they can land, and whether they stay. Some games drop wilds only onto specific reels, others transform existing symbols into wilds, and a few pair the added wilds with a multiplier. In cascading games the added wilds may remain for the next drop or be cleared after the first win.
Reactoonz uses the idea in several places: a feature can add 4 to 8 wilds to a non-winning spin, one of its modifiers converts a block of symbols into wilds, and a marked symbol type leaves wilds behind when it takes part in a win.
